Holidays with Heart

On this eve of Valentine's day, I think about how, in my mind, Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day are similar.  I think about all of the people in my life who have supported me in becoming the artist and person I am today.

2015 was a great year for spending time with my family.  I usually travel a couple times a year, usually Christmas and summer to spend time with my immediate family.  In addition to those trips, I also attended a family reunion, two weddings and Grandma's 90th birthday celebration.  It was a wonderfully festive 2015 for my family.

2016 started with another wedding.  Two weeks into the new year, we flew to Florida for a beach wedding for Liz and Ray.  My heart warms when thinking of their wedding.  The wedding was originally scheduled for a year ago, but unfortunately, major health issues postponed it.  I'm so thankful to be a part of their lives.

Liz and several other wonderful friends have supported me over the years by attending art shows, hosting home shows, sharing my artwork, helping me create my artwork, etc.  You are all my Valentines!

My gallery mates and others in my art family have a cherished place in my heart.  Those friends who are current and past members of The Bridge Gallery have helped shape me as an artist.  Even though I live in Denver now, I am still a part of The Bridge Gallery.  They are like a second family to me.

The many wonderful people I have in my social circle, because of Manitou Springs is  a mile long.  Manitou Springs is that creative sweet spot.  The people and their passion is contagious.  I'm so proud to say that I taught elementary art there for 17 years.  Happy Valentine's day to all of you!

And, finally, I love my glass family.  My passion for glass has blossomed in the past few years.  I have had wonderful experiences away from home at Penland and Arrowmont, but, my family at C&H Glassworks has my heart.  It is here that I practice.  I have a partner to lean on and learn from.  I am thankful they let me into their inner circle.  Here's to a wonderful 2016, full of abundance and joy.  Happy Valentine's day, everyone!
